Ever wondered what it means to be a good teammate? Often time just by being there we think we are good teammates. I suppose if we aren’t creating damage that may well pass as a good teammate. BUT I cannot help but think there must be more to it.
What happens when we support each other? Encouraged each other. And I genuinely wanted to see others succeed. We have become so accustomed to competing we have forgotten one especially important thing. The only real competition is ourselves.
After all, with technology we are not really competing with anyone else. The biggest obstacle any of us will face is our own mindset, our need for social media and peer pressure. What we give into every day is the true competition. We tell ourselves things like, “I deserve a break.” I worked hard so I am not going to practice today.
That is the mentality that will keep you from success not the player on the team putting in the work. But here is the real kicker. Supporting others costs us nothing. Being kind is the one absolutely free commodity we all have to give. So why not? Because the truth is, once you start giving freely to others the universe will work in your favor. Soon you will notice others supporting you. Smiling when you walk by and genuinely being happy when you reach your goal.
With that type of support, the world would be unstoppable.

Anytime I am at a meet, and I hear the kids yelling, you got this. You can do this and clap; it is so joyous. For these kids know something most adults have forgotten. Truly feeling capable is when you feel the strength of others supporting you.
So, the next time that one teammate has a sour attitude or appears unfriendly remember they struggle too. Even the kid who gets a new skill in a few tries. That means pressure. So, reach out. Give a passing smile and watch the atmosphere change in your favor.
And remember to come back and tell us about your experience.
If today was hard, tomorrow’s a fresh start.
Why stop now, we’re just getting started. Let’s go?
